Dundrum has undergone a massive transformation in recent years and is now home to one of Ireland’s biggest and popular shopping centres. But Uncle Tom’s on the main Dundrum Road in south Dublin has remained a comforting constant in the suburb in the midst of all the changes. And customers returning to the bar and restaurant for the first time in months since the lockdown will be reassured to find that – safety measures aside – everything remains pretty much as it was before.

With its spacious bar, lounge and indoor and outdoor function rooms that can cater for up to 150 guests in a Covid friendly environment, Uncle Tom’s Cabin is ideally placed to endure the ensure the health and safety of its customers and staff.

The venue recently opened its Community Coffee dock outside the front entrance, which has proved to be a big hit with local residents and commuters. And there are plans to develop an exciting outdoor food offering in the spacious car park, which will be finalised soon.

Co-owner Stewart Doyle said: “We’re delighted to welcome back our loyal customers to Uncle Tom’s Cabin. We’ve worked very hard to ensure they are returning to a very comfortable and safe environment and we’ve had a fantastic response from our customers and staff since we reopened.”

Aside from the health and safety protocols, everything at Uncle Tom’s Cabin has been set up to ensure customers can sit back, relax and enjoy the comfortable bar and restaurant setting for the first time in months.

Uncle Tom’s is currently open from 5pm on weekdays and 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

The venue is also taking reservations and group bookings and can cater for any family or group event, from corporate events, christenings, communions, confirmations, engagement and 21st parties to hens, stags and – later in the year – Christmas bookings. Famed for its ‘Live Sessions’, Uncle Tom’s Cabin is also planning for live music to return to the venue over the coming months.

Uncle Tom’s also has all of sports channels at the touch of a button so customers can sit back and enjoy the latest games and events from across the world.

The 130-year-old pub is famed for its quality pint of Guinness and it also boasts an extensive range of bottled and draft beers, from traditional favourites such to some of the more exciting craft beer variety and premiums. These include Guinness, Smithwicks, Carlsberg, Heineken, Budweiser, Bulmers, Corona, Coors Light, Peroni, Moretti, Kopparberg, Erdinger, Hop House 13 and Wicklow Wolf.
The bar also stocks an impressive selection of leading whiskey and gin brands, including Monkey 47, Drumshamboo, Tanquery No.10, Bombay and Gordons.

The mouth-watering pizza options include: The Wood Fire Pizza (€14), Margherita (€11.50), Bufala (€15) Bianca (€13.50), Four Cheese (€13.50), Vegal Melanzana (€13.50), Lucifero (€15) and Marinara (€11). Then there are delicious Wood Fire Sides – Garlic Focaccia (€4), Bruschetta (€6.50) – and tantalising dips.
